A brief Q and A on commonly encountered issues.
- Q. I have tried to get in several times, even asked that the password be sent to me, I still can not get in.
- A. In this case the account has not been "activated" - in order to activate the account you must click on the "confirmation" link sent to your email address.
- NB. Although the administrator can manually activate your account - for the system to work well you must unblock, or safelist, universe-of-homes.com in your email service.
- Q. I am able to log on, but do not see where to add my listings. How do I add listings to the site?
- A. Once logged in, if you click on the Manage Listings link. You should see "Post New Listing." Click on that.
- Q. What are Wish List and Watchlist?
- A. Wish List is a new feature for buyers. We add listings all the time. When we do we'll check these listings against your Wish List. If we see any that match we'll advise you by email, and we'll also add them to your Watch list. The Watch List contains properties you are interested in. We will advise you of any change in their status by either email or optionally by SMS text massage as well.
- Q. How can I get SMS text notices?
- A. Once logged in Click on your Name - to edit your profile. Here you can change your password, email, given name and phone number. We've also added a SMS/pager field please fill it with your country code 1 = US and the operator code for your mobile provider eg 21 = Vodafone NZ. a typical US number would be 17036257000
- NB. Sellers will receive Requests to View via this service, Buyers will receive property status changes.
- Q. How do I modify my listing for the home I am selling.
- A. Once logged in, if you click on the Manage Listings link, it will show all your properties. If you open the listing for display - you can review its appearance. You should see two links - edit | delete - edit will allow you to make the changes add/remove images etc.
- NB. Please enter only numerals in the sizes and price fields. There are selections for Units and Currency available.
- Q. I joined up but my city and state are not listed to search. Will it be added and when?
- A. Universe of Homes ONLY displays active agents and property locations when they have been entered and are still For Sale.
- NB. in this case the new agent had not yet listed a property, neither his city nor state were displayed in the search facility.
- Q. I would like to know if the fee is owed if the sale is completed and escrow closes or if it is payable everytime someone simply views the listing.
- A. You are only obliged to pay a fee when a buyer goes through the verification process to sign up, just as you had to, to list the property and then makes an appointment to view the property through the "Request for View" link. This indicates a serious commitment on their part to participate in the buying process.
